Independent Service Provider Status

Instructors, PDIs, mentors and driving schools are independent service providers. YooDrive does not employ, franchise or control service providers.

Each service provider is responsible for their own legal, tax, insurance, DVSA, data protection, vehicle, safeguarding, consumer and professional obligations.

DVSA, PDI, Insurance & Vehicle Responsibility

Service providers must ensure that their profile status, DVSA registration, PDI/ADI status, qualifications, licence, insurance, vehicle roadworthiness, MOT/tax status, training status and right to provide driving lessons are accurate and up to date.

PDIs and mentors must ensure that any PDI status, sponsorship, supervision, training arrangement or school link shown through YooDrive is accurate and lawful.

ICO & Data Protection Responsibility

ICO registration is not mandatory in every circumstance for every instructor or school. Each instructor and school is responsible for assessing whether they are required to register with the Information Commissioner's Office and for complying with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and other applicable data protection and privacy laws.

YooDrive recommends that instructors and schools review their ICO registration position and register where required or appropriate. YooDrive may request an ICO registration number or other reasonable data protection compliance information where appropriate.

Permitted Use of Pupil Data: Service providers must use pupil data obtained through YooDrive only for legitimate YooDrive enquiry, booking, lesson delivery, safety, support, cancellation, dispute and account purposes.
Prohibited: Service providers must not use pupil data for unauthorised marketing, resale, off-platform circumvention, unrelated services or personal purposes.

Profile Accuracy & Availability

Service providers are responsible for keeping profile details, rates, availability, lesson types, areas served, cancellation settings, booking-fee settings, languages, transmission types, qualifications and school/team links accurate.

YooDrive may reduce visibility, suspend profiles or correct/remove content where information appears inaccurate, misleading, outdated or harmful.

Accepting Enquiries & No Circumvention

Where an instructor, school or team user receives, accepts, responds to, or otherwise engages with a pupil enquiry introduced through YooDrive, that pupil is treated as a YooDrive-introduced pupil unless YooDrive agrees otherwise or the service provider can reasonably evidence that the pupil was already their existing pupil or came from their own source before the YooDrive enquiry was received.

Service providers must not use any YooDrive feature to move a YooDrive-introduced pupil off-platform for the purpose of avoiding YooDrive's booking process, payment process, wallet process, cancellation terms, verified reviews, platform fees, Balance Assurance, Community Fee arrangements or any other YooDrive terms.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Asking or encouraging a pupil to pay by cash, bank transfer, PayPal, direct card link, private payment link or another method outside YooDrive
  • Asking a pupil to cancel or avoid a YooDrive booking and rebook privately
  • Using pupil phone/email/message details obtained through YooDrive to arrange off-platform lessons
  • Offering a discount, earlier slot or other incentive to move away from YooDrive
  • Using school, instructor, PDI, mentor or third-party accounts to bypass YooDrive
  • Accepting a YooDrive enquiry and later claiming the pupil came from another source without evidence
Acceptance Confirmation: "I accept the YooDrive Service Provider Terms and agree not to move this YooDrive-introduced pupil off-platform."
Enforcement: If YooDrive reasonably believes circumvention has occurred, YooDrive may suspend or restrict the account, remove profile visibility, disable access to enquiries, withhold platform privileges, remove eligibility for Transaction-Verified Reviews, reverse platform benefits and seek recovery of losses, unpaid fees or improper benefit obtained.

Instructor-Created Bookings

Where an instructor accepts a pupil enquiry and creates a booking, the instructor must ensure the booking reflects the hourly rate, YooDrive Booking Fee setting and cancellation terms displayed to the pupil through YooDrive at the time the pupil submitted the enquiry.

Instructors and schools must not create bookings using terms that differ materially from those shown to the pupil at enquiry stage unless the pupil has accepted the revised terms through YooDrive.

Booking Fee Settings

Instructors may be able to choose whether the £1.50 YooDrive Booking Fee is paid by the learner, absorbed by the instructor, or split between them. The instructor is responsible for selecting the correct setting.

The selected booking-fee treatment will be displayed to the learner before enquiry submission and will be fixed for the booking once confirmed.

Cancellation Settings

Instructors are responsible for selecting and maintaining their cancellation setting in YooDrive. Supported settings may include 24-hour cancellation terms, 48-hour cancellation terms, or no late-cancellation charge.

The selected cancellation setting will be shown to pupils before enquiry submission and fixed for bookings created from that enquiry unless revised terms are accepted by the pupil through YooDrive.

Note: Instructor cancellation settings apply to learner cancellations. If an instructor cancels or fails to attend, the learner will normally receive the lesson value back in full, subject to YooDrive's dispute and verification process.

Payments, Stripe Connect & Payouts

Service providers are responsible for keeping Stripe Connect, bank, tax and payout information accurate and verified.

Payouts may be delayed, blocked or cancelled where Stripe, a bank or YooDrive requires verification, detects risk, receives a chargeback/dispute, identifies invalid details or is required to comply with law or payment-provider rules.

  • YooDrive may process funds through Stripe or another appointed payment provider
  • YooDrive retains only its applicable platform fees
  • Instructor and school settlement may be made through Stripe Connect or another payment-provider process after the relevant booking is completed and payment is released

Schools, Team Accounts & Community Fee

Schools may use YooDrive team account features to manage school profile content, instructor/team links, team visibility, diary visibility, pupil enquiry access, Community Fee settings, settlement reports and school website/widget tools where available.

  • Community Fee defaults to 0%, is set individually per instructor, and may be capped by YooDrive at 25%
  • The Community Fee is a settlement arrangement between the instructor and the relevant school/team — it is deducted from instructor earnings and is not charged separately to the pupil
  • Pupils see the total lesson price, any pupil-paid YooDrive Booking Fee, Balance Assurance where applicable and cancellation terms
  • A Community Fee only becomes active where the instructor has accepted the school link and fee setting through YooDrive
  • Community Fee changes apply only to future bookings — existing bookings retain the fee percentage recorded at the time of booking
School Acceptance: "I confirm this Community Fee is agreed with the instructor and will apply only to future eligible YooDrive bookings once accepted by the instructor."
Instructor Acceptance: "I accept that [School Name] will receive a Community Fee of [x]% from my YooDrive lesson earnings for future bookings while this school link and fee setting remain active."

School Access to Pupil Data

Where a school-linked instructor or school/team account is involved, the school may access pupil enquiry or booking data for legitimate booking administration, service delivery, support, quality control, safety, dispute handling, scheduling, mentoring or school/team management purposes.

Prohibited: Schools must not misuse pupil data, use it for unauthorised marketing, export it unnecessarily, sell it, or use it to bypass YooDrive.

Invite-a-Pupil & Existing Pupils

Instructors may invite their own existing pupils or self-generated pupils into YooDrive's protected booking flow where the platform supports this.

Once the pupil books through YooDrive, the relevant YooDrive booking, wallet, cancellation, payment and review terms apply.

This does not permit a service provider to reclassify YooDrive-introduced pupils as self-generated pupils without evidence.

Reviews & Transaction-Verified Reviews

Service providers acknowledge that Transaction-Verified Reviews (TVRs) may only arise from completed paid YooDrive bookings.

  • Service providers must not manipulate, incentivise, suppress, fabricate or threaten reviews
  • YooDrive may moderate reviews and may allow instructors to respond
  • Reviews may remain visible even if the service provider switches off enquiries, becomes unavailable, leaves a school or stops using YooDrive, subject to applicable law and moderation rules
